Judge Rules Against Amway in Binding Arbitration Case
According to a local Grand Rapids, MI TV station, a federal judge has slammed Amway’s use of binding arbitration. According to the article,
“United States District Court Judge Bruce Jenkins further decided “the public interest is also advanced by preventing parties from wielding their arbitration processes as a weapon to harass … and ultimately bankrupt their opponents.”
The arbitration agreement is what Amway has used to silence many of its critics, including numbers of high-level participants, since it was first implemented during the fiscal year 1999 renewal process. Another judge had previously declared the arbitration agreement “unconscionable.”
